Fernando Rodríguez, country manager of Citrix in Iberia, in an interview granted in the framework of the Citrix Mobility celebrated event this week in Paris speaks of the company's new mobile strategy.
Special from Paris
The multinational Citrix has given an important strategic step towards mobility. Paris has been the framework chosen by the company to start his European tour where he will present new solutions to customers and partners. Your value proposition is to offer workers tools that go a step beyond the BYOD.
Solutions enable thus to access any application from any device and any network. In a global, hyper and mobile world, the work no longer be a place for Citrix.
Silicon News met with Fernando Rodríguez, country manager of the company for Iberia, who explained the details of the strategy and the role of the Spanish market in the same.
-The motto that Citrix has chosen for this event is the work is not a site. Was a natural and obligatory for you step of mobility?
With the acquisition of technologies at the beginning of January, we show that we had a commitment to integrate all solutions and carry them towards mobility. The important thing is that six months later what we have created is a package of joint solutions incorporating technologies technology to what we already had in apps and desktop virtualization. We have extended our reach and we have devices available connectivity and functionality by adding new features.
-When to start to take shape this mobile strategy?
From the most radical change, which has been the arrival of the mobile. This involved taking on new challenges and the need to position ourselves in the market quickly. Customers and partners can not have been surprised with this move, expect it. But displayed pleasantly surprised at the speed of the execution mostly reality of solutions on the market. Other companies can provide and move but have no ready solutions. We already have them.
-As an added value of these solutions, we are therefore left with the forward market.
Obviously. The mobility market is moving very quickly. In recent years, in TI cycles are becoming shorter, faster and more intense. All records are beating and having it all in time is critical.
The number of companies operating to provide mobility solutions and its scope is very small compared with the opportunities it gives the mobile market.
We have given a touch of attention to customers and partners and we have shown them a way in which for the first time the companies have no control. Mobility is in corporations, we carry over. It is a tsunami and we have been able to make surfing and get ahead of ourselves, but there are many companies that are going to be engulfed and are not going to be able to adapt. We offer them the possibility to get to our table and move us in this direction.
-To be on the crest of the wave, would have to take the risk and as you and invest?
We have taken a clear direction, we believe that the reception of the solutions on the market thus goes to show, and the rest will move in this direction.
-Mobility solutions combined with virtualization allow the workstation to either side. This can be translated in cost savings and increased productivity. View the crisis in Europe... are we talking about hen eggs gold?
Our solutions are both focus on cost savings as the direction of productivity and increase in productivity always in an easy manner. The case is that fundamentally is you can work from anywhere, you can respond to customers from critical applications and in safe mode and respond to generations that are born digital and which do not work with PC.
-Does what weight Spain in the Citrix business?
Within the region, Western Europe (Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal), Spain and Portugal operate as a single business. Spain and Portugal have a weight above all qualitative, the quantitative has fallen in the past three years. All large companies operating in Spain have to seek a solution of mobility and many do it with us.
The Spanish market with Citrix has traditionally been a market of growing very fast and very settled. In total, two of the ten largest clients we have in the region belong to Spain. It is possible that the volume of figures is not important and there are adjustments in the coming months and years, but we believe that it will go up as soon as investments go forward. At the moment we have a number of very reasonable market to the current situation.
-Taking into account industrial thickness in Spain SMEs to compose it, no hollow to them in your business?
The gap for SMEs exists through specific service providers. There are two things in information technology in which we all agree: one is that given the speed of changes not all companies can make the investments needed to have knowledge of all. And two, we need to create specific providers that can supply to SMEs in all the technological benefits in a manner adapted to their size and expertise.
If we put the two premises on a scale, inability to follow technology and invest at this pace and the need for services, we believe that there will be great business opportunities and big companies to create those services. Our role is to help that intermediate or large companies believe that service and are able to offer it to the market in a flexible, easy and cheap way.
-We can not talk about security. Your solutions give a leading role to security, with technologies that protect such business applications on a personal device. However, many studies cast much of the blame for the leak of data to employees. Are we talking about a lost cause?
I think that not. The company has to provide their employees the right tools and so far no one had worried about of security and mobility. In addition, should provide the appropriate training for workers. There are many people who blame workers from practices that affect security when it has not invested in training and information.
The differential of the security is that there must be a standard that is maintained over time; We must make the investments necessary to make it a long-term strategy. So far, the safety in mobility has been a very unknown part we all begin to soak us in this aspect. It is not a lost cause.
